Originally
run as a very successful schools tour, this production has been expanded
and completely re-vamped as a professional theatre performance.
This
very well known and well-loved folk tale is transformed with lively physical
theatre, marvellous costumes and very catchy tunes. The show helps to
encourage positive response to those of different race or creed, and to
encourage Racial Harmony through a lively theatrical experience that will
engage and enthral children and parents alike.
Ugly, the duckling who was a different from the rest, was taunted, bullied
and rejected by her friends and even her family. They looked down on "Ugly"
because of her appearance, and on Ugly's friend Sprocket the Toad, because
he was not a feathered creature like them. Finally, after a very bad day,
running away seemed the only option. Her journey to find the "Land
of No Difference" and her open and honest heart led "Ugly"
into danger and very difficult situations.
It is "Ugly" and her friend Sprocket the Toad whose actions
show everyone the value of what is in their heart, rather than mere appearance,
and it is finally only tragedy that brings the message poignantly home
to all. However, the surprise ending will bring a smile to your face...
Suitable for children aged 4 up, and families.
